Silence

Some prize it above all the world,
Call these moments treasures each day,
Ideas often flourish in its embrace,
In its stillness a person may lay,
From that stillness God’s voice may speak,
And beckon us to come and pray,

Yet it is not good if left unchecked,
A strong demon it truly can be,
It lurks in the shadows soft as sleep,
Can sever souls and Shackle the Free,
It can part close friends and leave them wrecked,
And mar with doubt all that one sees,

It cuts deeper than any wound,
More painful than a piercing word,
It’s seen further than any haunting glare,
And though it may sound absurd,
It’s the loudest action though it makes no noise,
It’s the answer never heard,

In silence one is paralyzed,
No place to move on or return,
At least with words the wound can heal,
Or explain a false word or wrong turn,
In limbo I wait, completely unsure,
In silence you leave me to burn.
